Golfing in Lakeway, TX

For those who enjoy playing a few challenging rounds of golf, Lakeway is situated between two highly acclaimed country clubs, the Lakeway Country Club and Hills Country Club, and is within distance to Falconhead Golf Club and Spanish Oaks Club.

The Live Oak Golf Course and Yaupon Golf Course are both part of Lakeway Country Club. Featuring 36 holes of golf over both layouts—which are only three miles apart in distance—Members, Guest and Resort players will have their skills challenged based on the courses' blind tee shots, rolling hills, and generously long fairways. One of the most challenging holes at Live Oak, hole #3 and commonly referred to as JAWS, “plays 204 yards from the gold tees over a deep ravine that gobbles up a shot that falls short of the ravine.”

The Yaupon Golf Course's trickiest hole, #18, features a 503-yard par-5 that plays down hill near a pond with a 50 foot elevation drop. If you're lucky to cross the pond, you are then challenged with an approach shot that rises 40 feet to a green.

The Hills Country Club features two uniquely designed championship golf courses, The Hills and Flintrock Falls, with both designed by Jack Nicklaus and the latter co-designed by Jack Nicklaus II. A relatively brand new golf course (the doors opened in 2003), this public daily fee course offers rolling terrain, plenty of shade from the uniquely gnarled trees that add character to the landscape, and crisscrossing streams and creeks.
